Rebuilt the carb...

Finally got a day away to rebuild the carburetor on the F-100. It is an Edelbrock #1406 (Electric Choke) 600 CFM carb. There wasn't too much big stuff inside the carb mucking it up, but the inside did have a nice oil slick film to everything. It was pretty easy rebuilding this carb, just took a lot of patience and paying attention to how things go together. It works a little better now, but I need to fiddle some more with the choke..

Kulture Shock 2010

Went to Kulture Shock 2010 this past weekend in Lakeport. We had quite a bit of fun both at the preparty and at the show itself. This event is definitely a lot more laid back than most Northern California shows. There is considerably less douchebaggery and lots of good times. The Los Diablos car club opened up their shop Friday night for a BBQ. And that 4-day Tri Tip was excellent! After the BBQ there was a good hour of burn-outs down the small road leading to the club house. The cops even showed up at one point but only to tell everyone to stop shooting off fireworks. :) The show on Saturday was nice and relaxing. Cheap beers, decent food, a good amount of cars and lots of nice people.

Mmm Yeah, Good times.

Brake lights work again, thanks to alot of help from my buddy Todd. I am very appreciative of his electrical expertise. Bought new linkage end pieces and threaded rod today, going to make new throttle linkage for the pick-up. p.s. Tognotti's still sucks.

Electrical Gremlins suck...

So the brake lights on the F-100 have decided to stop working entirely. I have tail lights and turn signals but no brake lights. I have tried using different switches, I have even changed out fuses and bulbs and still no go. I have to have an open somewhere in the line that I now have to find...

My wife's got the skillz

Erin brought home the trunk lid and hood for the chevy, here is a shot of the hood. Not bad! It has a small peak to it where she welded up the seam.

I love a good blast cabinet.

Took the hood hinges for the '53 chevy up to Loomis this morning. I threw them into the bead blaster and got them pretty well cleaned up. Wipe them off and blew them off the get all of the bead glass out of the hinges. I put them in some generic black primer first and then once that was dry i sprayed 'Cast Iron' color engine enamel. I think they came out pretty good for being so low-tech! They look really nice back on the car as well, but they definitely make the paint surrounding them look even worse. haha.

Removing a dirty tank is tricky...

Decided to pull the gas tank out of the chevy today, it should be getting replaced with a mustang gas tank in the future. That will require some extensive clean-up, welding and cutting first however. This tank is empty by all accounts so it should drop right out fairly easily...

Ok, so in reality nothing is as easy as it seems. The gas tank had about two gallons of gas still in it. Since the engine kept cutting out I had assumed it was out of gas. Now that I know there was still enough gas in the tank it makes me think that either lines were clogged or the fuel pump was bad. Carb is a piece of crap quadrajunk too but who knows. Anyways, pulled the tank out. The fuel line sheared right off so that is going to need to be replaced too! Anyways, I have 2 gallons of decent gas if anyone wants it!!
